Hallmark Shows Positive Image of Black Love in Their 2015 “Put Your Heart to Paper” Campaign

Coming across this new hallmark campaign was like a breath of fresh air.  Hallmark filmed an experiment of sorts for their Valentine’s Day campaign, “Put Your Heart To Paper.” The campaign features interviews with real couples who share their stories and say what it is they like so much about each other 7 couples were asked to describe their feelings without using the word “love.”

The Couple Felicia and Hiram stood out to me the most. Felicia and Hiram have been married for 15 years and met at a very young age. I found it astounding to see a man on film especially a man of color to express his feelings for his wife and even tears roll down his face. Not that I have never seen a black or brown man cry over his joy of love but it’s rarely shown in the media so it stuck with me like glue. I admire Hallmark for stepping out of the box to explore the black/brown experience of love instead of remaining invisible. Check out the video below
