PBS has always been good at putting programs on the air to teach and enlighten us about so many array of people, ideas and history. PBS has especially been one of the few stations that will air many specials and shows that are for african americans or highlight the culture present and past. The series Pioneers of Tellivion latest season is has got a awesome episode titled BREAKING BARRIERS that will air Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET. I recommend this for minority adults and children to sit down and watch a bit of positive television that might change your mind on how minorirty people should aspire to be.
This episode traces the story of people of color on American television — including the mid-1960s breakthroughs of African-Americans Diahann Carroll (“Julia”) and Bill Cosby(“I Spy”). Latino landmarks range from “I Love Lucy” with Desi Arnaz to “Miami Vice” with Edward James Olmos. Also featured are Asian Americans such as George Takei (“Star Trek”), who details the childhood years he spent in a Japanese-American internment camp.
